Review: Secret Thoughts by Ian Dalton

Secret Thoughts is the second book in the Victoria Wilde series, which follows the escapades, lusts, and loves of the gorgeous and sexy Victoria Wilde and her friends. The stories are connected but can be read on their own.

As Victoria's first monogamous relationship in more than two years falls apart, Jillian struggles to break the news to her son Rob of her secret romance with his best friend Brian Nash. Brian has his own issues introducing Jillian to his off-the-wall, super strict parents who don't even attempt to hide their contempt for the older woman they feel is corrupting their firstborn son. During the visit, Brian, Jillian and Brian's younger brother Jim, learn an eye-opening secret about the Nash parents. The discovery sends them all scurrying back to Miami where Victoria, who's in desperate need of a casual relationship, finds Brian's sexy, but innocent college senior brother to be just what the doctor ordered. I thought the book was the perfect mix of sexy and funny. The raw lust and sex scenes are still there, with just the added bonus of some comedy. I would laugh so hard at times and at others, just enthralled by the way Dalton writes his novels.

There is a good amount of the Jillian/Brian romance in the book, but the book also has more of Victoria, which is awesome, because I just love her character. Jim, Brian's younger brother, is a great character and Dalton created a great personality when he brought Jim into the book.

The plot was great and I didn't see the twist coming at the end of the book, which of course had me foaming at the mouth for the next book in the series to find out what happened next.

I love every Terry Spear book I have read. Dreaming of the Wolf was wonderful, and if you like paranormal romances, then you should really enjoy this book.

Like all of Spear's books, Dreaming of the Wolf also has the great character development, plot and romances that we will always know come with her books. There were a few twists and turns and a sweet romance that starts at first sight.

This is the 3rd book in the Spikes and Spurs series. 1st book is Love Drunk Cowboy and the 2nd is Red's Hot Cowboy. The next book in the series is called One Hot Cowboy Wedding and is set to hit the shelves April 2012 with 3 more books following that.

First off I have to say that I just love Carolyn Brown's writing! I have a few of her cowboy books and I love each and every one of them. When I see a book by her, I can pick it up without reading the back blurb because I already know that I going to love it. (It doesn't hurt that I love cowboys too!) ; )

I loved the main characters, but I also fell for the others that were involved in the story. They each have their own parts and personalities to the point that you cannot wait for them to have their own book. The whole O' Donnell family is so wonderful that it makes a girl want a family like that for herself.

I will absolutely recommend this book to anyone who loves romance novels. It is a great book!

Review: Lady Sophie's Christmas Wish by Grace Burrowes

I really enjoyed Lady Sophie's Christmas Wish, Burrowes was so descriptive when writing about the baby, that I fell in love with even this small character. The rest of the characters as well were also wonderfully well written and very likable. I liked seeing a man (Vim) being so calm and knowing around a baby, it was refreshing; especially so as Sophie didn't know how to care for a baby.

The story line was very cute and the romance felt heartfelt. Great book!

Review: The Virtuoso by Grace Burrowes

I thought this was a cute story. Both of the characters had their own issues (Ellen a young widow and Val having an injury making him unable to play the piano), and they thought that their love could never last. The piano was the one thing that Val thought he could ever love and fill his life with purpose. Come to find out, it seems that Val can love something more than just music and his life can still be filled with purpose.

The story had great characters and a nice bit of drama to keep the story line interesting. I always enjoy Burrowes writing, and The Virtuoso was no exception.

Review: Tall, Dark and Cowboy by Joanne Kennedy

I love these types of plots! Guy likes girl. Girl never knows. Girl falls for guy down the road. I especially like them when the guy is rough around the edges, like Chase is with his hardened heart.

I liked Lacey's character (as well as Chase's). They were well written and I enjoyed reading them and about their romance. And, of course, I liked the drama! Lacey had been a trophy wife and had never been able to go after the goals she had made when younger. Chase's family had gotten cheated out of their farm by Lacey's husband (now ex-husband). Lacey's ex's vicious minions are after her as well. All of this made for good drama.

The romance was very cute, but I don't want to give too much away, so I'm just going to say that I very much enjoyed it. The book was great, and it will be a good re-read that will be waiting on the shelf for me.

Review: The Highlander's Heart by Amander Forester

This is the 2nd book in Amanda Forester's Highlanders series. The first is called The Highlander's Sword, and the 3rd book in the series called True Highland Spirit will be coming out in March of 2012.

Lady Isabelle was wed to a mean older man, and now she is trying to get an annulment. She starts her journey here, running from her husband, only to find out that she can't hide out at her uncle's because he is now dead, and then be captured by a highland brute. Of course, we all know that heroins (as well as us, the readers) always fall for the brute, especially if they have a Scottish accent.

I thought the book was great. My attention was held the entire time, and I had some trouble putting the book down (which is not good for my sleeping habits!). The mix between romance and drama/action was awesome and I think it is pretty safe to safe that I loved this book. It doesn't hurt that the cover is pretty too though, does it? ; )

This was a great book! The characters were well developed and are very likable. There was a lot of great detail throughout the book, as well as filled with bunches of excitement and romance. I had a hard time putting this book down to do anything else during my day (I never wanted the book to end!).

I really liked that along with men being warriors in the book, there are women warriors as well. It was a refreshing change. I cannot wait for the next book in the series!

Review: Tempted by Elisabeth Naughton

I really liked TEMPTED. The characters were like able and well developed. The romance was very cute, and the plot had action and some shockers that kept me reading. It was a really good story line if I do say so myself. Demetrius likes Isadora, his soul mate, but he needs to keep her at arm's length so he is mean to her to keep her away. Isadora thinks he hates her, but when he starts to show his sweet side she starts to fall for the big guy. This is one of those plots that I love, that I will always love, the kind that I will always have a soft side for. Anywho, I really liked the book, that's what I'm trying to say here.

Review: Inappropriate Thoughts

Victoria Wilde's best friend, Jillian, is a disillusioned divorcée and best-selling romance novelist who can’t write a chapter without her hunky male heartthrob suffering ED, an STD, or even worse. Brian Nash is a tennis-obsessed, college senior who’s unlucky in love and the roommate and best friend of Jillian’s son, Rob. After Brian learns he's being manipulated by a college love, Rob offers him a spring break escape to his home in Miami. There Brian meets the surprisingly young and also tennis passionate Jillian, and their shared interest quickly develops into an intense mutual attraction. As they struggle to fight their feelings, they develop a unique super intimate, yet non-physical connection that provides Jillian with the inspiration to write again while erasing Brian’s brokenhearted funk. It was full of fun and sex. It had emotional parts that really made me love the characters and was funny too. I don't know how many times I would have to smother my laughter so that I didn't wake the whole house up (and I mean that literally).

I loved both Jillian and Brian, they were so amazing as individual characters, and as a couple in the book. Victoria didn't have a very big role in the book, but I got to see a new side of Victoria, which I really enjoyed seeing. She was more fun-loving, carefree, and slutty in this book, and that made for a very fun character. I had to laugh at some of things she said and did, and especially Jillian's reactions to some of them.

While I already said I adore Jillian, Brian's character is my favorite. He is just so cute, both on his own and with Jillian. He leans a bit more on the shy side and is portrayed to be more of a gentleman (plus he cooks!).

Book Shopping

We all love books. If we didn't, I wouldn't be writing about the books I love, and you wouldn't be looking at my blog. Right? I buy my books at numerous places, both at online book stores and in stores there are many places I go to get my books. I have a new favorite place to find my books, and I think you guys will like it too because it lists for you the books you want and low prices of where to buy them online.

The website is called Canadapost.ca and I thought it was pretty easy to navigate. It literally took me 3 clicks to find the romance section, and I think I might have started drooling a little, I was so excited, when the first 2 books were both new releases by Sherrilyn Kenyon (you all know I love her books!). Yeah, I know I already have those books, but it just excited me to know that they have good books on the site.

P.C. Cast, Nora Roberts, Jean Johnson (from her new series!), Lora Leigh.... And that was just on the first page. 34 more pages of hot books to go through. Yep, I'm in love. The Sherrilyn Kenyons I was talking about (just so you get an idea of the prices), they are both hardcover, and NO MERCY, her newest Dark Hunter book is under $9. I paid close to $20 for my copy! Are you seeing why I think I'm in love? : )

Review: A Dash of Scandal by Amelia Grey

I really liked A DASH OF SCANDAL. I didn't know, however, that it had previously been published in 2002. That said, some of you might have already read the book, being that it has already been on the market for some years now. I have to say though, I really like the new cover, it's much more vibrant and attractive.

I thought the plot was great. I had read a historical a while back, though I cannot remember what it is called, that has a girl wandering around the rich types at a party sneaking to look for information. A DASH OF SCANDAL reminded me somewhat of that book, which I also enjoyed reading.

The characters were nice, I liked them. I love rakes (what girl doesn't). And our hero is a gorgeous rake, something you cannot resist in a romance novel.

Overall -- I enjoyed reading Grey's story. It was a cute romance and recommendable.

Review: Utterly Charming by Kristine Grayson

Mysterious, handsome wizard Aethelstan Blackstone hires a beautiful, hardworking attorney Nora Barr to get a restraining order to protect Sleeping Beauty from the evil stepmother. But if Sleeping Beauty is supposed to be his soul mate, then how come he's becoming bewitched by Nora?

And when Nora finds herself baby-sitting a clueless maiden from the middle ages, avoiding a very wicked witch, and falling hard for the man whose magic she doesn't believe in, she begins to think that love itself is only fairy tale... description taken from the back cover.

As soon as I started the book I knew I liked Greyson's writing style. Her characters are well formed and the introduction of the characters in the beginning I found to be humorous. I didn't really know what to expect when dealing with a mix of modern and old fairy tale, but I was interested since the very start. The "Sleeping Beauty" is named Emma. She isn't so much a sleeping beauty though unless you call a young, pretty girl in a thousand year old coma a 'Sleeping Beauty'. From the back cover description of the book, I expected more of a "true" fairy tale characters, which made we wonder if it would mix well. But, because Greyson wrote the characters in the way she did, with characters based off of the idea of the original fairy tale characters, it worked beautifully.

Blackstone is our hero in UTTERLY CHARMING. He is the gorgeous wizard that women stop on the sidewalk when he walks by and starts drooling. Blackstone first seems handsome, easy going, calm and cool. Later on though, he shows these vulnerabilities, going from sure and cocky to looking somewhat helpless and sad, that made him more endearing in my opinion.

Nora is a good character. Blackstone is a strike of luck for Nora, who was going broke quick, her own law practice not working as well as she was hoping it would. Blackstone offered her a huge sum of money to basically do nothing, and with that money, Nora started to thrive.

Ten years later, after the introductions are made, the action, drama and (or not-so-much-yet) romance starts.

I liked the book. It was a refreashing change to what I normally read, and it was beautifully written.

Unleashed is the 1st book in Humphreys' Amoveo Legacy. After checking out the author's website, I found out that the next book, Untouched, will be out in April 2012. The website also mentions to stay tuned for information about the 3rd, 4th, and 5th books in the series, which I hope to see soon.

I though Unleashed was a really cute paranormal romance. I liked Humphreys writing style, the story line was great, the characters were well written and the romance was there. I loved the way that Malcolm and Sam were drawn together. They just knew that they fit together, that they belonged. Malcolm was especially endearing (but then again, as women, we always tend to like the male leads more than the female leads).

I can't wait to see more of her shape shifters in her next books, so here's hoping that some of her other books also come out in 2012.

THE WEDDING AFFAIR was a cute book. I was hooked from the very beginning. I loved the characters, Duke and Olivia; they were adorable. The characters were well developed as well as the romantic ties between the characters were, those ties were very heartfelt. The plot was great, I simply love story lines like these!

I enjoyed this book, it was a nice light read. Leigh Michaels is a wonderful author. You can see more of her books on her website. She has a newly released book (that sounds really cute!) that came out in July called JUST ONE SEASON IN LONDON.

Vampires, Lycans, witches, oh my! I love this series. NEVER BEEN BIT is the 7th book in the series. The characters are all great and I just love each and every one of them. The story was really cute and very funny. Alec has to keep bailing Sorcha out of her mess-ups, which makes for funny spurts in the story. Sorcha thinks that she wants a werewolf like her coven sisters, but somewhere along the way she figures out that a werewolf just doesn't compare to her vampire, Alec.

Once I picked up the book, I couldn't put it down. This series is wonderful, and this book on it's own was great.

This book came out in June, and I've had it now for quite some time; and it has taken me forever to get this review out and up for you all. (I'm sorry for that!)

Anyhow, it was a great book. The characters were great and the love affair was gorgeous. The whole story was beautifully written and both I and my mom really enjoyed reading it. There were numerous times that my lips would quirk up and some of these lines, they were just so adorable I could not help it. I love Historicals, and this one was no different. Great story!

Review of Lora Leigh's Breeds Series

Hello everyone

I know I haven't posted in quite a while at the frequency that I used to, probably because I have been caught up in book world, going from one book to the next so quickly that I don't write up a review.

So, what I have been reading?

Lora Leigh's BREEDS series. At the moment, I am on the 20th book in the series. Yes, you read that right. I started reading them maybe about 2 or 2 1/2 months ago. They are so good!!

The Breeds are human created half human DNA and half animal DNA. The Breeds were created to be man's perfect cold killing army; stronger than the normal human, yet easy to control. But, the Breeds were more human than the scientists wanted them to be. They felt, they yearned, they wanted freedom and to experience life instead of painful "training". If they were not good enough at killing, then they were killed. Put in cages and only let out to go on a mission (aka kill someone the scientists want), they know they have to behave or their family members will pay the costs.

A few Breeds escaped over the years and stayed in hiding, fearing to be caught and taken back. Finally, one Breed, his mate (wife), and the few members of his pride step forward. They came into the public eye, explaining to newspapers, television stations, the entire world, what their life was and is like. Coming to the public eye brought both sympathy and help, as well as animosity and the need to rid the world of this "inhuman" race. This is now where the Breeds stand.

The characters are amazing. You just feel for them so much, and it doesn't help that the guys are super sexy. There is a nice amount of action and the sex scenes are steamy. There are no stand-stills, or need fro skimming until you get back to the good stuff, in any of the books I have read so far. I just absolutely love them. Like I said, I'm on the 20th book in the series right now. There are 28 according to Lora's website, and I know I will be running out of the books soon. More are on their way to the printing press, but I really hate waiting for books to come out, especially when you are waiting on a good series. But, at least the series isn't over yet!

I read The Help book right after it came out. And I'm really glad that I bought a copy instead of just checking one out from the library or borrowing it from someone. I've actually read it three times total! I just finished it fro the third time not that long ago because I'm going to see the movie when it comes out in about a week and a half. I think it's going to be really great and from what I can tell so far about the actors, I think that they're going to perfect in these roles.

I had my doubts about Emma Stone playing a plain, unattractive girl, but I saw her in the trailer and she pulls it off. I was looking though some blogs talking about the upcoming movie about a week ago, when I ran across the website http://MobileBroadband4g.com. After I looked through it a little bit, I decided to change over my home internet service to the provider.

The part that I'm most excited about seeing in the movie is the interaction between Minny and Hilly. They're both such head strong characters that I'm sure that it will be funny

Review: The Goblin King by Shona Husk

I did not realise that there is a prequel to the Goblin King called The Summons. I have not read it, but I'm thinking maybe I should get it just for the fun of it.

THE GOBLIN KING is the first in the trilogy, and according to Shona Husk's website the 2nd book Kiss of the Goblin Prince will be released in May 2012 and For the Love of a Goblin Warrior in Fall 2012.

I loved the Goblin King, but man did I ever sob my heart out. It was just so touching there was no way I couldn't not cry. The characters were amazing, the story line brilliant, and the ending was beautiful.

Roan (the Goblin King) is just, simply put, amazing. He is one of those characters that I will probably never forget. (You know you all have favorites just like I do!) Eliza, our heroin, is pretty snazzy too. She needed help when she was younger, and there was Roan. Years later, all grown up, she still hasn't forgotten about him. And, when she needs help again, Roan comes to her aid.

I love story lines like this. The kind that are so emotional; the kind that makes you empathise completely because it seems like you are right there with them. The ones where the guy is always right there but all the while has his own wounds to heal.

I loved this book. And, the cover wasn't too harsh on the eyes either! ; )

I just love this series. Janet Chapman is just an amazing writer though, so if you have read her books before, then you probably already knew this is a good book even if you hadn't read it yet.

Trace and Fiona are great characters; strongly written, lovable, they are just wonderful. I already started falling for them though before I even got the book. You meet these characters in the previous books, just little snippets about them make them endearing to you even though you really don't know them.

MYSTICAL WARRIOR is the 3rd book in the Midnight Bay series. And, the other two were amazing as well, so you need to go read those books if you have not already. I have the reviews for both books on this blog somewhere, so go type it into the search on the top of the right hand side of the blog to find them if you want to know more.

The plot was great, the action was there, and the romance was there. It was a good mixture of the two as well (action and the love affair). Just an all around good story. I will definitely be recommending this book to all of you. It really was a great read.

THE VAMPIRE NEXT DOOR is the 3rd book in the series Strange Neighbors. Sadly, I did not like this book at all. I found the plot to be boring; it was just plain dull to me. There were too many minor characters mixed into this book too. They had pieces of life's written in, and with as many minor characters as there was, it was just way too much.

The characters were alright; they weren't bad, but they weren't lovely either, although you could at least empathize with them some. The one character I could not stand, however, was Morgaine's cousin. Why? Because of the way she spoke. It just drove me insane! And, just so you can understand why, let me give you a quote from the book.

"

We was not drunk. Just a little tipsy is all. My gran-pappy used to say, 'As long as y'all can hold on to one blade of grass and not fall of the face of the earth, you ain't drunk.'"

It was continuous red-neck sayings and improper speech. It drove me insane because I could just hear the over-the-top twang in my head.

But yes, I did not like this book at all. I really tried to get into it and just couldn't. Maybe one of you would enjoy it, but I cannot recommend it.

I love Paula Quinn's Highlander books. You always know that it is going to be a good book when it is by Quinn. Tamed By A Highlander is no exception. It was a great read. Tamed By A Highlander is the 3rd book in the Children in The Mist series. I have read the first 2 in the series so of course I had to get my hands on the 3rd in the series; these are some great books.

1st book- Seduced By A Highlander

2nd book- Ravished By A Highlander

The characters were great, lovable and well developed. There really aren't any spots in the book where you think, 'oh hurry up and get back to the good stuff'. From start to end, Tamed By A Highlander keeps your attention. I love highlander books, and if you do too, pick this one up (and the first 2 in the series!).

Lady Of Seduction

It's a mad, ill-advised journey that leads the usually sensible Lady Caroline Blacknall to the legendary isle of Muirin Inish, off the windswept coast of Ireland. Lady Of Seduction is the 3rd book in the Daughters Of Erin series. I have read the first 2 in the series and they were wonderful.

1st book- Countess Of Scandal

2nd book- Duchess Of Sin

The characters were seriously amazing. The hero was someone you just have to completely fall in love with. The heroin, someone you are rooting for the whole way. I absolutely loved the whole thing- the plot, the characters, the love story; everything. This was one awesome book.

However- This is the last book in the series, and that is what I don't like. I want more! But, I know that McKee will have more books, so I will just have to content myself with looking forward to those.

I really enjoyed reading this book, it was truly captivating. I liked the characters, like the rest of the book, they too, were well written. The details and descriptions used were wonderful; it made reading Temptation Of A Highland Scoundrel all the more appetizing.

The action/plot was mixed evenly with the love affair going on. In fact, Temptation Of A Highland Scoundrel is the 2nd book in the Highland Warriors Trilogy, something I was happy to have found out. I cannot wait to pick up the first book in the series. And, for those of you wanting to know, it is Sins Of A Highland Devil. The 3rd book is yet to come, but the name of it is Seduction Of A Highland Warrior. So, make sure you keep your eye out for this one to hit the shelves.

To make it short and sweet, just know this: I recommend this book to anyone who likes Highlanders and Historical Romances. It was a great book.

I enjoyed reading The Darkest Heart. It was a more dark romance. Gallery Books (it's publisher) describes it as a 'sensual and compelling Gothic paranormal romance.' They hit the nail on the head when they said that. It does have a Gothic feel to it. The book is well written with a compelling plot that has you up reading until 2 in the morning.

It's a good book for anyone who likes paranormal romances.

Review: Moonlight Warrior by Janet Chapman

I had reviewed this book in the past and I said that I did not like it. As I mentioned in the review of the 2nd book in this series though, I go through spurts in books. For a couple of weeks all I want to read is Historicals, then for a couple of weeks I am infatuated with Paranormals and so on. When I read this book in the past, I had to have been in one of those spurts (that's not Paranormal) because I absolutely loved the 2nd book this series (Midnight Bay Trilogy). You can read my review here of the second book, Dragon Warrior.

So, if you have already read my review of Dragon Warrior, then you would know that I had planned on re-reading and re-reviewing Moonlight Warrior. (Which I just loved!)

The characters in Moonlight Warrior were also in Dragon Warrior, so I already liked the characters. However, when reading their book, I couldn't help but love them more. They were excellent! So well written, the plot was great, AND it actually helped explain to me some of the beginning of Dragon Warrior. The minor characters throughout Moonlight Warrior made the book all the more funny and adorable.

I loved Kenzie and he was clueless when it came t sarcasm. It was endearing. Eve was a great female lead. She had just got a divorce from her husband and was not about to fall for a man so soon. However, while she was not about to commit, she did not fight overly hard (You know how sometimes you just want to reach into a book and slap some sense into the female character? Well that was not needed in this case thankfully!)

To make it short and sweet: This was a wonderful book and if you like Scottish accents, hot men, or paranormal romances, (or all of the above) then you should get this book, because you will love it as much as I did.

I have read 3 of Brooks' books from the Cat Star Series; although I have not read a single one in the correct order (but you don't really need to). I have loved every one of them. I first read Hero, the 6th book in the series (which I also reviewed for Sourcebooks- you can read my review of Hero here.) Then I read Slave, the first book in the series; and then I read this book right here that I am now reviewing for you, Virgin. (I also just got OUTCAST the 4th book in the series (which I have yet to read) for free on my Kindle thanks to a Sourcebooks promotion! Hurry & go to my Free Ebooks post that I wrote just a few days past and see if you can still get those 6 FREE eBooks!

I love these books. I think I mentioned in the HERO review that this series is about aliens and space traveling. That is just not my cup of tea for books. Normally, I cannot get into those types of books, they just bore me. This is not the case with this series; the books are so well written, the characters are wonderful, the sex scenes are fantastic, the action and humor is there and wicked. I simply adore these books.

I absolutely love Terry Spear's wolf romances, they are all wonderful, well written, and easy to fall in love with.

Heart Of The Highland Wolf is no exception to my love of Spear's books. It is as wonderful as the rest. Heart Of The Highland Wolf is actually the 7th book in the wolf series by Spear. To see all of the books listed in order, click here (it will take you to the author's web page).

The book started out with some action - it really took you by the seat and made you stay focused and right in the book. The action stayed for a bit, then it turned humorous and very cute; that being just the very beginning. Throughout the book, there was a lot of cute and funny moments, the action being mixed in just right to really keep your attention and your emotions empathetic.

I really enjoyed the book from start to finish. Spear is one of those authors that you know if you pick up one of her books, you will not be disappointed.

My wife and I went to a big basketball school when we were young, and ever since, we've been avid college basketball fans. We've kept up with college basketball for the last 50 years! We've seen some amazing moments, and we've watched our home team have a few moments of glory. Basketball is a great American sport, and I love it dearly. Currently, we're getting ready for the road to the national championship game. Our team has been chosen for the tournament, thankfully. We are getting very excited, and we have been gathering around our home calendar and planning how to make the games fun and exciting. Next week, we're going to throw our own small party and ! supply lots of food, yum!

After checking out some hearingaidsreviews online, I printed out the bracket for the tournament, and I've begin to make my predictions with my wife. This is going to be a very exciting next few weeks, and we are glad to be able to experience another highly exciting year of college basketball together

So, onward with my review!

There were a lot of sex scenes, we're talking approximately about more than half the book. But they were very well written sex scenes, and hello, this is Erotica; so if you can't handle the heat (and man is it hot!) then don't pick up the book. But I know that everyone here loves these genres or you wouldn't be reading this review.

I had tears running down my cheeks at times because I felt so sorry for Victoria and her loss. But at the same time, Brad was such an easy and gentle character to like. It was almost impossible not to cheer the guy on.

Though the ending was sad, I felt it ended right. And, besides, this was just the prequel (said to be of Victoria's background story) to the full length book Inappropriate Thoughts. While in the next installment Victoria might not be playing the staring role, she will be an important player.

As much as I would like to say more, I don't want to spoil the story for you guys, so I'll stop talking (typing) now.

At only .99 cents the book is definitely worth the time go download and read.

I thought the book started off good from the very first page. The book is a combination of sub-genres in the romance world- special ops / paranormal / and futuristic. The story kept my attention, and there was none of that "fluff". You know that inconsequential stuff they just add to "fill in" the book. The characters were well formed and like able. It was an enjoyable read that I would recommend.

Anita Clenney is a debut author who did a wonderful job with this book! Awaken the Highland Warrior is the first book in the first book in the time-travel trilogy (unfortunately I do not know the name of the series though!). The second book is called Embrace the Highland Warrior and the third is Unleash the Highland Warrior.

The plot of this book is great. Personally, I love time traveling books, especially when the men come into the future. I is just so funny how they bock at almost everything and get so confused over the tiniest item, behavior or event. That said, Faelan is shocked by Bree's clothes, how she acts and the new speech of the time.

The characters are cute and likable. The romance is there with some action mixed it. Faelan is really cute in his actions, a great hero! The book is enjoyable. I really liked it.

The book is a reprint and I am glad it is, otherwise o never would have discovered this book. I love historical romances as much as the next girl (ok maybe a bit more the next girl!).

I absolutely adore the plot! It one of those plots that is made for you, like it was taken out of your day-dreams (at least there from my day dreams).

The characters are good as well as the story; it was well written. The book was entertaining. The ending, while it was adequate, was lacking in my opinion. Something sweeter would have been a bit better in my opinion.

This book is from a NEW cowboy trilogy Spikes and Spurs, this being the first book in the new series.

I have read one or two of Brown's cowboy books before and they are always good and very cute. So I had some high expectations when I heard about this new book. And it sure met those expectations too! The characters are fun loving and especially cute. The story line is chock full of funny parts and is all around amazing.

If you can't tell, I really enjoyed reading this book. If you like cowboys (and c'mon who does like cowboys?!) you should read some of Carolyn Brown's books.

I really enjoyed the way Kennedy worded her book with the more realistic monologue of the time.

The beginning of the book had me a bit confused though.. The first sentence of the book is "At first, it appeared they both wanted the same cock." Now, I know the rest of you have as dirty a mind as me, but I honestly thought that maybe the setting was going to be in a gentleman's club or a brothel or such thing. Well, turns out that 'cock' is an old word for 'chicken'. (You learn something new everyday, huh?)

But, besides that first sentence, I was still somewhat confused with the beginning. The question
of the day seemed to be who is good and who is bad, really? One moment I thought a character might be bad, then it turns around to good, and within a page or two the character sounds like the bad guy again.

The confusion of that first sentence aside though, it was a good book that held my attention. (And, the sex scenes were pretty darn good too.) The characters are loveable and fun and the action is great. I enjoyed reading this book and the historical aspects of it were wonderful!

Adorable. That one word sums of this book pretty darn perfectly. It was so cute and funny and I just loved it. And, I just found out as of 3 minutes ago, about the newest book in the series, The Art Of Seducing A Naked Werewolf, that I will defiantly be getting my hand on asap.

Characters were halarious and easy to love. The setting was great and I loved the mini dramas between Mo and her hippie parents that wouldn't stop calling. The testosterone wars going on were great as well (mini dramas everywhere!)

The romance was great. No sweet talk at first. The first real 'converstaion' between Mo and Cooper was basically something like "yes I'm naked but I have a bear trap stuck to my foot, mind pulling it off for me?" I just loved Harper's concept, her writing style and her end result.

If you do not already have this book, you should go order one or swing by your closet book store because this book is worth getting.

I was literally laughing my butt off by page 5. I am not joking at all. The characters were excellently made and the plot was gorgeous. I loved this book so much. While the book was hilarious, it also had a backbone which made the book that much sweeter, because it carried a perfect depth and description. I just loved this book. Period.

This is the second book in the series. The first being Moonlight Warrior (which I may or may not have reviewed, I honestly cannot remember for the life of me.) I put the book down somewhere around the middle of the book and never picked it up again. I was making myself read it, it just was not catching my attention at all. And, reading this book, I cannot fathom why I did not like that book. The characters that were in the first book are also in this one, and I like them. The only thing I can think of is that I was just not in the mood for that kind of book (paranormal). I go through spurts you see, for a few weeks I cannot get enough of historical romances, and then I turn to paranormals and so on. ~~So, I am going to go pick up a copy of the first book (that of course I don't own anymore) and read it, because I know I am going to love it since I loved this one so dang much.~~ (Update:) Well I got Moonlight Warrior and re-read it; and absolutly LOVED it!!! So yes, I loved this book and I will suggest this book to anyone who will stand there long enough to listen to me (even those people that I know don't read much).

Because I keep saying - you would love to read and you would keep on reading if only you would find the right book.

And girlies, this is the right kind of book!

I would say Best Book Ever. But I can't, because then I would be putting Olivia's first Sinners Series book on the back burner, and I can't do that because I love Brian and his book Backstage Pass. So, in this case I have to say BEST SERIES EVER!

If you can't tell, I love Miss Olivia's brilliant mind, not to mention her smokin' hot books about the rockers of your wildest dreams.

Sed is that amazing front man singer that you just want to wrap yourself around. Common girls, you know what I mean, we are always looking at those hot singers before our eyes wander (if they even look away) to the rest of the band members. I think I actually had some tears sliding down my cheeks at one point or another, I just cannot remember for sure though because I was so enraptured in the book.

The characters you have to fall in love with (even if you do get jealous of those fictional women), they are just that amazing. They embed themselves in your heart and I'm not sure if they will ever let go. Plots from Cunning are always amazing it seems; what can I say, I just love these books!

The only thing I can say about this specific book is that the cover irks me. Don't get me wrong, it's gorgeous and sexy and I like it. But I'm whining because there was a cover before this one came into play that I already had fallen in love with, and to me, it felt like it fit in with Brian's cover more so, and I think that's why I loved it so much; because it was like a perfect little puzzle piece to another gorgeous part. And, because I'm nice, I added the original cover pic below...

When you go to pick up your copy though, just remember that you are looking for the purple cover (the first one posted) and not this one.

Besides that (which really isn't a problem) I am smitten =)

Now, the baking show has come into the twenty-first century. The hosts are more interesting. The foods are spicier. The stories are more exciting.

The best baking show on television is Bitchin' Kitchen. The Bitchin' Kitchen program is my favorite program to watch on satellite TV from http://www.bestchoicetv.com/satellite-tv/mn/. It is such a hilarious show. Everything is so crazy and ridiculous. Nadia G came up with it and thought it would be a great baking show. She was totally right. They have all sorts of exciting theme shows. They talk about things like Break-Up Brunches and One-Night Stand Breakfast recipes. The best of the best is the Rehab Ravioli. It is so delicious and can actually cure hangovers. I don't know anywhere else that I can find food like this. All of Nadia's recipes are great and easy, and she is so much fun to watch sashay her way around the kitchen. Truth be told, I have a little crush on her.

Bitchin' Kitchen has a really enjoyable youthful energy to it. I really like the light attitude and nice breezy feel that this show has. There is nothing else like it on television. The Bitchin' Kitchen is my kind of kitchen.

MY REVIEW

The characters are well developed and very like-able, yet it was a bit difficult to keep all of the minor characters in order because there were so many of them. The story line was fun and entertaining, and the Barth's tone, as well as her writing style, throughout the book was also very pleasing to read. While I did enjoy this book very much, I would not say that it is a favorite of mine. That said, I would still definitely recommend it to anyone who likes romance novels, for it was very cute.

MY INTERVIEW WITH CHRISTI BARTH

What was your inspiration for Act Like We're In Love?
I spent much of my life performing in musical theatre and opera. There is a wonderful intimacy inherent to being in a cast that lends itself to a romance. I wanted to share with the world the absolute joy of being on stage. And the 'disdain' theatre actors have for movie/tv actors is very real, which gave me a conflict to work with right off the bat.
What was your favorite scene in Act Like We're In Love to write?
My favorite scene was the last scene. I am an unapologetic romantic, so the chance for them to profess their love and revel in a happy ending was by far the most fun. I had to remind myself there was an actual time limit inherent to the action in the story, and I couldn't just have them go on and on for ten pages about what a wonderful life they'll share.
What was the hardest scene to write? And why?
Without a doubt, the love scene. I guess as a romance author I shouldn't admit this, but love scenes are brutal to craft. You can only say he stroked such and such body part so many times, so many ways. The actual writing becomes very clinical and leaches all the sexiness out of it for me.
I love the title. How did you come up with it?
The original working title was Love Duet. But it just didn't sound sexy and fun enough, and by about chapter ten I realized I had to go back to the idea well. Once I started re-thinking it, the title came to me very quickly, and I had to pat myself on the back for coming up with a title that practically wrote the back cover blurb for me!
Who designed the cover?
I'll claim credit for the design, but not the execution. I had just finished reading Louisa Edward's On the Steamy Side and loved her cover of a stack of pans with a men's tie across it. Happily, it gave me the inspiration for my cover (and when I saw her at a conference this summer, I thanked her profusely for sparking that idea). Eternal Press gave me a talented staff member Ally Robertson who made my vision a reality.

Do you have any current projects you are working on, or maybe future projects you are mapping out?
Always! I finished my third book Cruising Toward Love which answers the question can an unexplained breakup and ten years of heartache be cured by the romance – and endless buffets – of a tropical cruise? Right now I am at the beginning of a trilogy based in Chicago. The first book Planning for Love centers around a wedding planner - lots of room for bridezilla horror stories and hijinks!
Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
As I mentioned earlier, the love scenes are a habitual nail biter for me. The overriding challenge, though, is the conflict. My stories are character driven, and there is nothing I enjoy more than writing pages and pages of witty banter. My super-soft heart hates to inject the necessary conflict - over and over again - so painful to put my beloved characters through the wringer.
If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?
Everything I know about writing romance I learned from reading Nora Roberts. Sure, I've readed hundreds of other authors, but I feel as if her novels are the primer for my technique.
If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?
Of course! When I went back to proofread the galley, I found several places where I would've deepened the characterization, or added a little more setting. In hindsight, it is easy to spot holes. Deep in the midst of churning out 96,000 words, you can't see the forest for the trees. But overall, I am very pleased with this book, and hope everyone who reads it walks away with a smile on their face.

Do you have any advice for aspiring authors?
I will quote just about every other author asked this question and say - put your butt in the chair and WRITE!!! And after that, find a critique group - it is an invaluable part of the process.
Tell us a little about the road to publication. Was it difficult?
Difficult in the sense that the first agent I queried didn't drop everything and drive to my door with balloons and waving a contract. That was a shock! Because if you don't honestly think your writing is brilliant, you won't have the confidence to go out there and try to sell it to the world. So yes, I have a stack of rejections, but my years as an actor (auditioning endlessly and getting turned down for as many roles as I was cast) gave me the perseverance to keep sending out query letters until I found someone who loved this book as much as I do.

Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest that you would like to share with us?
I am enamored of Gail Carriger's new Parasol Protectorate series. Louise Marley wrote an amazing book called Mozart's Blood I encourage everyone to read. And Josh Bazell's Beat the Reaper is laugh out loud funny - for fans of The Sopranos out there.
Would you like to say anything specific to your readers?
THANK YOU!!!! Truly, I just want my books to entertain, to lift your spirits and carry you away from your everyday life. The fact that you would spare a little time from today's overscheduled world to read my words is humbling and wonderful.

Ok, before I start ranting and raving about how much I loved this book, take a good long look at the cover. It is simply gorgeous. I am starting to get jealous of the photographers of these covers, what about the rest of you?

Alright, onto the wonderful world of Kresley Cole... I love this series and you should all know it by now. I am seriously and deeply in love with this series. DREAMS OF A DARK WARRIOR is the 10th book in the Immortals After Dark series. To check out more about the series, go to Kresley's website here.

In the preface of the book alone I was tempted to cry. And, for the first good portion of the book I wondered if there could be a happy ending for the doomed lovers. But, (obviously as a romance book) the story turned around for the two and a happy ending was found. Along the way there were twists and turns (all of them exciting and had me rushing through the pages to find out what would happen next).

To be a little blunt here, for me to start talking about how good the plot is, or how well developed the characters are would be unnecessary because (for those of you who have read Cole's other books) we all know the plot is amazing and the characters are even better than the plot itself. If you have not read a Kresley Cole book before (is that even possible?!) then trust me when I say you will love her books if you love romance novels. You will love her books if you like paranormal (she also writes historicals!). You will just love her books.

When I first read the description for this book, I knew I was going to love it. It sounded like it had one of those plots that was written specifically for me. The characters were well written and fun to read. The plot was interesting and refreshing, and I loved the little twists and turns.

I found it pretty funny how Gina thought Ben was gay. Poor guy, can you image your 'fake' wife thinking you're gay? But, I really enjoyed reading the book. I had not previously read any of Kaye's books. Actually, I had never before heard of her name and had known about this series. But, I will be looking for her other books today when I go to the book store.

YOURS FOR THE TAKING is the 4th book in Kaye's Domestic Gods series, but you can easily read it on its own without being confused.

Writing New Year's resolution

I think that one of the toughest things about writing for a living is remembering why you love doing it. Most people don't associate work with what they love, so when you do what you love for a living, it's easy to forget that you loved it in the first place. But I'm making a resolution this year to do some more writing outside of work for fun.

It's been a long time since I tried to get any of my fiction writing published and when I was online with my clear-internet, I found some up and coming literary magazine that I decided I should submit some work to.

My writing New Year's resolution is to try and write a short story each month. I think that's a fair timeline, especially since I have a full time job that I have to keep up with. Plus, I'm a little rusty in the fiction writing department so it will get me back in the swing of things.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I have been in the Historical mood lately, so this book filled my appitite. The characters were well written, even the more minor characters were pleasing to read about. The plot was there and it was also pretty good. Anna has some secrets she hides from everyone but her sister, but the earl wants to hear those secrets. The Heir is pretty steamy with the sex scenes.

If you like Historical Romances this is a book you will want to read. It was good all around (characters, plot, scenes, writing style..). Also, keep your eyes open for more to come from Burrowes because THE HEIR is the first book in the series.

I guess because of that people tend to give me a lot of books for gifts. Now, not all of them are that great though. Well, I almost broke down and started reading some of those books that I knew weren't going to be very good, so I went online to order a Christmas novel instead. Review: Devil's Desire by Laurie McBain

I liked Devil's Desire. It was a well written historical with lots of appeal to it. The characters were wonderfully written, and Alex is as sinful as you could ever wish. I liked Elysia's character too though, they were both well written and clearly thought out. One thing I liked about Elysia is that she is a stubborn willed woman who isn't going to take what Alex throws at her.

The plot was nice as well, and set out at a good pace. The story took off, but didn't go so quickly that you become confused by such a fast pace.

I love a good historical and this is one of them. McBain did an awesome job with this book, and I just want to say, I am a fan. There was romace, scandal and even some action when Elysia's brother captures a French spy.

Dash is a werewolf who has to worry whether or not Cait will accept him and his ...non-normal biology. Little does he know though that Cait is a witch. I enjoyed this book. It is actually the 4th book in Lydia Dare's series, so I will more than likely be checking the other books in the series out as well. The story starts off at a great pace, opening with what is the beginning of the action. Instead of having to spin out details of what happened in the previous books (like so many books in series will do) Dare flys out with the story which I love. I hate when I get a book that belongs in a series and you have to go through 20 pages of what happened before the book. (If I want to know, I'll pick up the books before it.) That said, you do not need to read the prior books in the series to know what is going on.

The characters are lovely. Well written. The plot is great, it's one of those plots that I look for in books because I am so soft for those particular books. I love Dare's writing style. Her vocabulary as well is wonderful, and I love how she has Cait speak with her Scottish dialog. Dash is the very adorable in his own ways. Overall, I just really enjoyed this book. It was a nice change of pace and something I would recommend to all of you book lovers. : )

Review: Dating Mr. December by Phillipa Ashley

Dating Mr. December is a pretty slow book. The first 2/3rds of the book I was forcing myself to get through. It was boring, didn't capture my interest and was just all around dry. With 1/3rd of the book left, the story started to pick up it's pace a bit, getting a bit more interesting. The book still wasn't anything special.

The characters were ok, but the story lacked depth. This might be one of the main factors that equated to my not liking the book. The action was lacking. (I don't mean car chase action, but just that nothing was there to hold or even capture the reader's attention).

Overall, I can't recommed this book to anyone because I personally don't feel as if it is anything good enough to waste your money on.

Review: The Rake by Suzanne Enoch

Wow, I apologise for the big gap in between reviews! I didn't realize it had been so long. School has been crazy and then I was sick for a couple weeks and now the holidays are making it even crazier! Some of you must have thought I had died it has been so long since I have last posted, but I'm here with another review, and I have to say, this is the best story I have read in a long long time.

Three determined young ladies vow to give three of London's worst rakes their comeuppance -- but when these rogues turn the tables, who truly learns a lesson in love?

Once upon a time, the notorious Viscount Dare charmed Lady Georgiana Halley out of her innocence -- to win a wager, no less! -- and now he must pay dearly. The, plan is simple: She will use every seductive wile she knows to win Dare's heart...and then break it. My Review

The story starts out with Georgiana (a very rich 24 year old) telling her friends what Dare (Lord Dare aka Tristan) had done [his carriage had tossed water on some women]. It is obvious that Georgiana doesn't like Dare one bit. You find out rather soon (just read the tid bit above my review!) why she hates Dare, but the rest of London doesn't know a thing, part of the book's charm.

The story is told 6 years after what happened between Georgiana and Dare.

I really don't want to say too much and give away anything because you really just have to read the book for yourself. I just want to say that the characters are amazing, the plot is interesting, and I love the twist and turns the book takes. The sex scenes are pretty good too, just know that they will not smolder the pages of your book. What I loved most about the book though was the fact that Enoch made the book so funny. The characters are lovable and I almost want to yell at Georgiana that she should give in to Dare because he is so cute with her; but it really is the style of her writing that I feel in love with.

And, yes! She does have more historical romances out that are equally impressive! I own a few of them and I love every single one. Below are links to some of her books available at amazon.com. I own both and I have to say that they are my 2 favorite by Enoch, so you should definitely check them out!

But I've been needing a little break from all of that and wanted to read some current books that are a little more light hearted. I went online with my bundle clear internet to some book blogs reader forums and posed the question for some suggestions about soem good funny books I could read. Well one author's name kept coming up again and again, Christopher Moore.

So I did some research on him and ended up getting A Dirty Job book that's written by him. It ended up being really funny. The lead character in it learns that his job is death, as in he has the job to be a Grim Reaper.

I've been wanting to take writing classes for a long time, but had never really had the time or the money to do it until recently. I found out about one at my local community center that fit into my budget and my schedule, so I went ahead and signed up for it.

I was really scared to write and share it with other people, so I looked up a whole bunch of writing tips with my Los Angeles ClearWire wireless internet and kept those in mind for my class.

I've also been thinking about why my favorite writers are my favorites. I even read a bunch of stuff by writer Danielle Steel and figured out some of the writing techniques that she uses to really get the attention and infatuation of her readers and keep it throughout her whole books. I might try and write some romance stories like her, I just donÕt want to make them risquŽ. A whole lot more sweet than risquŽ because my classmates will be reading it.

Review: Honky Tonk Christmas by Carolyn Brown ~ ARC

I have wanted to read a honky tonk romance for a while now and was excited when I got my hands on Honky Tonk Christmas. I just love cowboys and all their tight fitting wranglers too ; ) Brown did a great job with this book. In the beginning I was a bit confused about Holt's situation (that's all I'm going to say about it, no spoilers here!) but it cleared by quickly enough and that was the end of my confusion. All of the characters were nicely developed, even the more minor characters that didn't really have much of a part. The plot was nice, while it was also predicable.

There were good moments, but in between those good moments seemed to be a lot of boring (yet needed for the story to make sense and progress) details. The characters were nicely developed and the plot was there, it was just that the story didn't really want to hold my attention. It was an ok book, but I didn't need to read it, I didn't need to know what was going to happen next, and that element is really what was missing from this book.

The ending was soft and sappy. Yes, I know this is a romance, but it was sappy for a romance too. Overall though, it was ok. It wasn't my favorite book simply because it didn't keep my attention for too long at any one time.

Review: Highland Hellcat by Mary Wine

I've read a few Wines before, and this one surpasses the last one by quite a bit. And, boy am I glad. The first Mary Wine I ever read, I completely loved it, the next one I thought 'what happened?' and, thankfully, this one took after the first book. Highland Hellcat is about a spirited woman who is to become a nun, but along the way gets kidnapped by a Highland laird.

I enjoyed Brina's spirit, her bite and enthusiasm. I found it refreshing in a way that other 'spirited' heroins don't come across in many of today's Historical Romances. I found the writing to be clever, the plot interesting and well wrote, and the characters nicely formed as well.

Overall, the book was pretty good, and if you like Historical Romances, chances are, you will probably enjoy it too. : )

Review: Backstage Pass by Oliva Cunning

Backstage Pass is going to be, hands down, the hardest book for me to review. This is because it will be so difficult for me not to moon over the whole book and give away all of the details. I have re-read this book about 4 times now it is so good.

Human Sexuality Professor, Myrna Evans, wants nothing but a weekend of hot, no-strings-attached sex with Sinners' sensual lead guitarist, but Brian Sinclair is looking for something more permanent than a one-night stand. Unable to compose music for months, when Brian makes love to uninhibited Myrna, he hears exquisite guitar riffs and finger-burning solos. In Myrna, he's found his muse. taken from the author's site

Each of the characters (and not just Brian and Myrna, but all of the band members AND the roadies) have amazingly developed characteristics and profiles. I love how they really are their own person, and Cunning really lets you know each of their little quirks. I honestly fell in love with each of the band members. I cannot say I love one more than the other, because they are each that amazing.

The plot. Oh, the glorious plot! So good, so yummy, so hot, and so much sex! It was a great plot : ) If you haven't guessed it already, I am now a HUGE fan of Olivia Cunning and her work. I am just so happy that I found her books, and so glad I received an ARC to review. : )

I just cannot say enough times how extremely well written this book was. It was as if Olivia was writing the book specifically for me. Backstage Pass kept me running through the pages at the exciting points and slowing down when it took a sweet turn. It was just so good.

I am looking very forward to the next book in the series SINNERS ON TOUR to come out. The next book to come out, according to Olivia's website is Rock Hard, Sed's book, which is set right now to come out in April of 2011! Can you say excited? It seems like a really long time, but if I have to wait that long, I will, and I will be one of the first people in line to buy it when it hits the shelves.

Nascar Racing

I love watching my favorite driver race in different races. I watch Nascar racing every chance I get at home on my satellite TV. I ordered satellite tv from http://www.directstartv.com/directv_current_offer.html. The Nascar Sprint Cup Race for the Chase has been a great series of races. There are a couple races left and every driver is trying to do the best they can. There is not much of a difference in points between some of the drivers right now. The top ten are going to the final race. I know my favorite driver, Kevin Harvick, will be in the final race. He is first place in the points standings right now. So there is really no doubt that he will compete in the final race. I think that he is the greatest driver in Nascar. He is about 34 years old and has been racing professionally since he was 20. He has the driving experience and a good personality. He has been my all time favorite driver for a long time. I can't wait to see the next race. He has won many races and many awards in his career. I am hoping he will win the final race in this Sprint Cup series. I love watching the races, they are so exciting and full of suspense. This next race is going to be a good one.

One Fine Cowboy is the second book from Kennedy, the first being Cowboy Trouble. Now, I have not read the Kennedy's first book, so I cannot say anything about her last book, or how it plays into her new book. However, I can tell you that her story was excepetional! I love cowboys anyways, so her guys just touched me and made me 'aww'. I completely fell in love with her strong and silent cowboy. Her story line tossed in twists and turns that me turn the page as fast as I could and I laughed through a good part of the book.

Joanne Kennedy is a great writer, and I will be racing to the book store ASAP to get her other book.

Review: Sin Undone by Larissa Ione

HER TOUCH IS DEADLYI love the Demonica series by Larissa Ione. I have been a big fan of hers for a while now and was awaiting the release of this book when I saw Hatchette was handing out review copies. Safe to say, I hopped aboard that train. : )

Let's start with the cover first. While it's very nice, I think the last 4 covers in the series were way hotter. I'm probably being biased though, because those guys that stared on those covers were ammmazing. Still, the cover is not a big deal, so moving on..

I loved the characters. Sin stayed herself through the whole book, which I thought was very important. I mean, Sin is a hard ass. She can't say, 'oh, that guy is so hot and sweet that I'm going to give up killing people now'. It would have felt very fake and wrong, so I'm extreamly happy that Ione stayed true to her characters.

Con was a great character as well. I loved the two sides of him, the werewolf and the vampire, I thought it made him a nice contradtion.

Also, I'm not going to mention what it was, but I loved the twist in the story. : ) The plot was well thought out and the ending was great to lead into a new series.

Review: Shelly Laurenston ~ Pride Series

I love Shelly Laurenston's books. It's that simple. They are hot, sexy, and full of laughs. That's why I'm not writing individual reviews, because they would be super long and I would talk about them all even though trying to stay at only one book. So, I'm just going to say that I love them, why I love them, and then give you guys the names, and other info you might need to find these books and buy them if your interested.

Now, I have not read The Beast In Him and The Mane Attraction because I do not yet have them. But the other 3 I do own and have read. They are all so good. The sex scenes are hot, the romance is there, the connections are there, the friendships are fantastic, plots are excellent and the humor is everywhere! I just really love these books.

They are about shape shifters (lions, tigers, bears, oh my!)who live in New York, present day. One family of wolves owns a string of restaurants and they cook all the time. One polar bear/lion is a professional hockey player for a shifter only team. And, some more lions own a hotel. As you can tell, the shifters kind of have their own little world going for them and the humans (although they live with them) don't know about them.

Now, I know that are more expensive because they are trade paperbacks. These books are normally around $14. But, I got mine for around $3.50 at my local used book store. If you don't have one in your area, look on amazon (it looks like a lot of hers you can purchase for around $5 and up used) and on eBay. You can also check at the BookDepository.com which offers FREE SHIPPING worldwide on all of their books (there it looks like you would pay around $6 and up).

It looks like AbeBooks.com is the cheapest to get her books though. (I've used them before and they are great. You can sell your books [used and new] to them as well.)

I know some of you have probably read either all or some of the series already, but to the ones who have not, I hope this gives you a list of some new reads and that you check the books out because they are so good. They will always have a permanent spot on my favorite's shelf, that's for sure. : )

The Mane Squeeze by Shelly Laurenston

This isn't a review. I'm too tired right now to actually right a real review, but I will probably post one soon of this book if I don't ramble too much about it right here and now.

Ok, first off: You girlies can see the cover clearly, yeah? Because every time I close the book or pick it up, I feel the urge to act like a 12 year old and start kissing the cover. ; )

Now, for my mid-night ramble:

I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!!

I have been waiting and waiting to buy this series, but because they are Trade Paperbacks (the big ones) I didn't because I don't want to spend like $15 or 16 bucks each on a book. So, I browsing my used book store one day, and, oh how I love this lady that works there, she carried a pile of eroticas and basically set them right in my lap. So, I ended up with 3 Shelly Laurnstons and 1 Janelle Denison (Wilde Thing).

Anyways, point is, after the debate of which one to read, well I chose The Mane Squeeze and AWWWW I just want to read it all over again!!

The male hero in the book is a bear shifter named Lachlan "Lock" and he is just so fricken adorable! I kid you not.

For example:

-Lock is a bear who gets embarrassed by swarms of women paying attention to him.

-He likes to play with his toes when he gets depressed/angry/bored/playful/etc.

-He is a god in the bedroom according to Gwen (our female lead).

-Like a bear, he sometimes drags his "prey" (or Gwen's annoying brothers) around the room like a Tonka toy and he doesn't even realize it. Even cuter, he gets embarrassed when someone points it out.

I could go on and on, but I would totally ruin the book for anyone who has yet to read it. And, if you haven't, you need to! I laughed so hard reading THE MANE SQUEEZE that I had to stick a pillow over my head to muffle my squeals of happiness so I did not wake anyone up last night while reading it. Again, I kid you not. Lock is just SO adorable, and Gwen kicks ass! Seriously. She actually goes throughout the book kicking (and punching and clawing) people's asses (and other body parts). It's half the action and I wouldn't have it any other way.

So, anyways, what was supposed to be a small little "GO READ THIS BECAUSE IT'S AWESOME AND I WILL POST MORE ABOUT IT LATER" post, kind of turned into a horribly written and sloppy review. Forgive me, I am tired and really need to go to bed. But, the book was SOOO good, so you really should check it out. I already have the next book in the series sitting on my night stand waiting for me when I'm not quite so sleepy.

So I had a Blond Moment...

So, I had a Blond Moment this morning...

I went to check the mail and was excited with all my goodies. (Turns out my goodies were just my books for the new semester, but oh well.) Anyways, I got a WalMart sample of Cottonelle toilet paper.

You know how one piece of tissue will stick out of a tissue box (the kind you use to blow your nose with)? Well, one piece of toilet paper was attached to a piece of cardboard with some coupons and a sample of flush able wet wipes.

I showed my mom. I told her, "Are you kidding me?? This is my sample? How am I even supposed to see if I like this toilet paper when there is only one piece?"

My mom starts laughing. She says "I guess they are saying that you only need one square because it is so absorbent, huh?"

I said, "This is stupid! How is anyone supposed to wipe themselves with ONE square of toilet paper?"

Well... It turns out that my mom was making fun of me. She then told me that there was more toilet paper stuck in the little boxed off area at the bottom of the carboard display (if you don't know what I mean then look below at the picture of some vitamins. See how where "One A Day" is written? Well, the box was much smaller, but it is the same idea. It was a boxed off area at the bottom of the display).

Anyways, it turns out there WAS more than one square of toilet paper in the sample. I was just raging on about nothing. But, after the fact, I stopped to laugh at myself and how stupid my mom and I's converstaion was about the toilet paper sample.

OK, first: How hot is this cover?? I think it is absolutely gorgeous!

Seduced by the Wolf was not my first Spear book. In fact, I have read another of her wolf books and really enjoyed it, so I was happy to be able to review one of her new wolf books. Unfortunately, I did not find it as good as her previous books. Fortunately, it was still good. Perhaps I has too high of standards for Spear when I came to her new book. Whatever the fact, the new book was good, but not as good as her last books.

That said, as I stated beforehand, I still enjoyed it. I thought the fact that Cassie was a werewolf (born, raised, and educated) was a nice twist to the book, as most were books seem to keep their characters separated by species to add to the barrier issues between them.

The plot was interesting, the characters well developed and the story line was good as well. I can't say specifics of what makes her last books better than this one. I just can't seem to place my finger on it, just that it held my interest far more.

I thought Cassie's character was great! The fact that she knew what she wanted and went after it was awesome and should be an inspiration to every woman. Leidolf was hot! He burnt some of my pages to a crisp... (haha)

I loved this book! HERO is the first book by Brooks I have ever read. As you can tell from the summary above, HERO is a book that includes "aliens" and space travel. In the past, these types of books have never been my thing. However, I decided to try HERO since it sounded so appealing. It was amazing!

The characters were well developed with adorable little quirks and traits that made me grin and giggle. They seemed very real with thoughts and actions I wholly approved of. Even the minor characters were amazing! The plot was terrific and had me leaping from page to page I was reading it so quickly.

I will SO be getting Brook's other CAT STAR books! I need to know how the rest of the series will be. I actually did not know this until recently when I checked out the series, but HERO is the 6th book in the CAT STAR CHRONICLES. Safe to say, I will be doing a little book shopping very soon. ;)

Good job, Brooks, you have a real winner with your amazing CAT STAR series. I am proudly telling you, right now, here, at Sexy Women Read, that I am a fan of your work. : )

Planning your Wedding Online

I just finished booking my wedding venue online. I'm really excited as this is a huge step and brings be that much closer to my special day. While researching wedding venues using my satellite wireless internet today I came across a very elegant estate with a price tag that my pocket could afford. I have the choice of having the ceremony outside or inside the estate this way if the weather isn't so good we could move the "I do's" inside.

There are also plenty of rooms inside for all of the photos we will be taking before and after the vows. I'm really starting to get excited now about the whole event. Of course I still have plenty more planning to do but once you secure your venue for your wedding, the hardest part is over. Now, let the fun begin!

I've been researching some florists online as well, I would rather go with a whole wedding package than indivually pick out arrangements that could run me a lot more money. I'm only going to do one arrangement on each table inside and concentrate on more floral decorations for the ceremony. I don't want it to look over-done. As for the bridesmaids, I might just go with some simple lilies tied with a bow. Anyway, there's still 1 year left so I can take my time making this decision.

I loved that Grace was a product of her time, yet had modern notions. She didn't cower down like a lot of female characters from Historical novels do. She stood up and said 'this is how it is buddy, deal with it'.

Daniel. Where do I start with him??? He was so sweet and scandleous and hurt and rakish.. it was sexy. *smiles* I loved his name, I loved his actions and how he tried to sweet talk Grace yet knew when to pull back and be a gentleman. He was all around perfect. Daniel is the novel romance male lead that makes women raise the bar for men in real life. Haha. : )

Review: Dangerous Games

This is the first Lora Leigh I have read. I have several others sitting on my shelf, but this is the first one I have read. Oh My Goodness! It was wonderful!!

Now, I'm not going to lie, the book has a nice little BDSM background to it. So, if you are not comfortable with bondage, skip his book. I, on the other hand, am extreamly fine with it, so I thought the book was hot, hot, hot!

I just don't know where to start with Clint.. I was not crazy about his name. I just wasn't feeling it. At the end of the book, I still was not crazy about his name. Clint himself, however, is another story. I love his character!

Morganna. This is the type of female character that I wanted to grow up to be like. Sexy, confident, kick-ass, independent, strong willed. Her character was awesome. I loved the fact that even though she had 2 overbearing males breathing down her neck, she still could roll her eyes at them, and be as indepensent as she wanted.

This was a great book. I can't wait to read the other books in the series. I know I am out to get Rescue Me with Mason "Macey" March next! He was featured in Dangerous Games and whoa, I need this book!

Fishing

Fishing is a traditional hobby that’s gone through my family for ages. I even have a few uncles who make a living off it. I have personally learned to love it, especially during the summer.

Summer is the best time to fish. You get up at the crack of dawn when it’s quiet and no one else is awake. You go to a nice quiet lake or pond, cast your line, and relax as you watch the water wade. It’s a hobby for those who know how to be silent and patient. My grandfather was the one who taught me the fish. He had me on fishing trips with him since I was five years old. He taught me all the tips and tricks, and I have learned to respect them just as much as I respect the sport.

My favorite thing about fishing is that it brings my family together. Not only do I go fishing, but I also bring my wife and kids with me whenever I can get the chance. My wife barbecues and sets up a the picnic as I teach the kids all the things my grandfather once taught me. It’s a priceless experience.

When I’m not fishing, I can watch programs with my kids about hobby or sport fishing on my direct tv georgia fishing channel. The family legacy will live on.

Safety tips while you’re at the beach this summer

If you are spending some time at he beach this summer, please remember a few safety tips. Before you even leave home for the beach you need to remember to set your Adt Security system and grab lots of sunscreen. While you can probably buy sunscreen along the way, it is hard to set your alarm along the way.

When you are at the beach it is wise to stay out of the sun when it is at its highest. Your potential to burn between 10:00AM and 2:00PM are much greater than earlier or later in the day. The atmosphere does a much better job blocking damaging UV rays when the sun is lower in the sky, due to the increased amount of atmosphere the rays need to pass through.

While you can and should enjoy your time in the water, you need to be aware of the tides and rip currents. Even though the water seems quiet, it may not be as innocuous as it seems. Outgoing tides and offshore currents can quickly drag you out to sea and endanger your life. Obey any warning signs concerning the tides or currents.

Your time at the beach should be fun. A little common sense will keep you safe at the beach this summer.
