Stopping Animal Suffering.

I am a huge animal lover.  Dogs, cats, snakes, birds, killer panda bears.. it doesn't matter what they are, I love them all.  While most of us are now looking at the wild animals who are going into extintction, we forget that animal cruelity is still happening here, right now.

I signed up for the PETA newsletter one day about a month ago.  And, I just got an email from them this morning.  And, here's what it said,
"Right now, inside the laboratories of the University of Utah (the U), dogs and cats—just like the wonderful animals who share our homes—are being subjected to painful, invasive, and often deadly experiments. Will you please work with us to stop the suffering of all animals in need by making an online donation right now?"

I'm not going to post the full email, because it is pretty long, drug out with evidence about how many animals were killed, how they died, etc.  If anyone wants to read the full newsletter, please leave me a comment with your email address and I will forward the newsletter to you.

This is a snapshot I took from the newsletter, sharing the story of the chocolate lab named Remington.

Here is a video I found on the PETA website regarding the same article. It brought tears to my eyes it so horrific.  NOTE: WATCH AT YOUR OWN RISK.  THIS IS NOT A VERY NICE VIDEO.
I found the video here.  You can read the article here.

If you would like to help, you can make a donation to PETA.  To make a donation, you do have to sign up to be a "PETA member", which only means recieving their newsletter once a month.

You can make a donation here.

(I cannot get my name to automatically stay out of the boxes since I received the link through my email, but you can just delete my name and email address.)

Email Subscription

I just wanted to make a small note for everyone who uses email subscription to blogs: I had an email subscription already on my blog, but I was notified that it didn't always work. I now have a new email subscription box that does work. If you like to read the blogs you follow that way, or whatever the reason, feel free to subscribe. This is only for your ease. This will not, and has never been, counted for an extra entry for giveaways of mine.

Anyways, I just wanted to let you know, that if you had previously signed up, you will now need to do so again so that you will receive the email. But, obviously, you do not have to, and that it will not count against you for giveaway purposes.  Oh, and it is in the same exact spot as the old email box used to be!

Thanks!

Yikes! I bought too many books today!

So, my little sister and my dad went and did their thing today: going to some baseball game.  Since they got to go out, I figured that my mother and I should go out too, right?  So, we went to the bookstore.  I bought too many books, again!

Before I even went to the book store I ordered Charlene Teglia's The Gripping Beast on amazon.

Then, I went and bought all of these...

-Highland Scandal by Julia London
-At The Duke's Pleasure by Tracy Ann Warren
-Succubi Like It Hot by Jill Myles
-Bound To Shadows by Keri Arthur
-Pride Mates by Jennifer Ashley
-Unleashed by Jami Alden
-Sweet Surrender by Maya Banks
-Wild Instinct by Sarah McCarty

My book shelf (yes, I only have one. I want to get another bookshelf, but I just don't seem to have the room!) is overflowing, and I already have huge boxes filled with books stuffed under my bed, which are also getting overly full.  Here, have a look for yourself:

this would be my almost stuffed bookshelf..

And, you can kind of see the size of the box here, which I have 2 of.. But they are about 5 feet long and a foot or so wide and about 4 or 5 inches tall.

Whatcha think girls, did I buy too many today?

Awesome New Author~ Charlene Teglia

Technically, the brillant woman known as Charlene Teglia is not "new", but she is new to me (sold her first book back in 2004).  I picked up one of her books (thankfully the first in the series!) and WOW!  If you like paranormal and erotica, then get this book!!!!!  It is super hot and has a great plot.  I started it this morning, and finished it about 4 hours ago.  And, no, it is not a small book (304 pages).  I read Animal Attraction which the first book in the "Neuri Chronicles".  The second is called Red Queen and will not be out until May.

Animal Attraction is about:

Chandra Walker has a secret hidden in her genes—she’s a rare female werewolf. Now that her all-male pack has located her, it’s her destiny to sample each man’s pleasures and choose a mate from among them—a mate who will become pack leader. Soon the strongest alphas are competing to bring Chandra the most ecstasy, but only one man will claim her.

By going to the amazon page, you can read a clip of the book!

Review: Decadent by Shayla Black

I know I'm going to say this, and you're going to think, 'yeah right, you're just saying that'.  But, I am 100% truthful.  This was seriously one of the best books I have read yet!  I love Shayla Black's writing anyways, but oh my, this was a hot book.

Decadent is the 2nd book in the Wicked Lovers series.  I went out and bought the 1st book yesterday. And, I just ordered the 3rd book literally 5 minutes ago on amazon.  Yes, I am in love with this series already.  It was sex, sex, sex without being boring.  I know what your thinking, that I'm crazy right?  I mean, how can a book just about sex be boring?  It can be, trust me.  I have read enough eroticas without a solid storyline to know.   The plot is solid and has you on the edge of your seat.  The male characters are amazing, and I fell in love with them both (yes, it is a trio ;))  And, Kimber, the main female character, was just awesome too.  She had a backbone, did what she wanted, wasn't afraid, didn't beat around the bush.. She was awesome.
Decadent is about Kimber, who is a virgin, and wants to prove she can handle the three-way lifestyle of her old rockstar pal, wanna-be boyfriend, she fancies herself in love with.  But, Kimber is completly inexperienced because she has a dad and 2 navy SEAL brothers who scare all the guys off.  So, Kimber finds one of her dad's old employees, Deke, an ex-army ranger turned bodyguard who is also into menages.  She wants Deke to teach her about sex, the way he likes it, so she can please her rockstar, Jesse.  Deke finally gives in, as his cousin, Luc, persuades him.  Together the 2 cousins teach Kimber everything she needs to know about pleasing Jesse, even though they would like to keep her for themselves.
Twists apon every corner, a mad man out to get both Kimber and her father, and a bunch of really hot sex.. What else could a girl ever want in a book?  Well, except maybe for the hero step out of the pages and into her arms.. Anyways, awesome book, I just loved it.  My mother read it directly after I finished it, and she is breathing down my neck right now telling me to hurry and finish the 1st book of the series so she can read it!

So, in case you haven't yet read the book, and trust my opinion enough to buy the book yourself, here is the link from amazon.  (starting at approx. $4)

Blog Award!

Deb, over at Just Short of Crazy, gave me a blog award!  Wasn't that sweet of her??  Thanks Deb!

So, now I'm supposed to tell you 7 things about myself and then pass this along to 15 other lovely bloggers.  So.. Let's see if I can think of anything interesting..

1) I graduated from high school a year early.
2) I'm taking college classes through 2 different schools (one of which isn't even in my state).
3) I am *not* a morning person!
4) My music tastes are all over the spectrum.. From classical, to Italian Opera, to alternative rock to jazz, some light rap and some screamo.
5) I'm the shortest person in my family (minus the 3 yr old cousin). 5'5"
6) I used to have a ball python, but I got rid of it when I needed room for a book shelf!
7) My very first adult romance was Kresley Cole's A Hunger Like No Other.

Now, it is always super hard to pick out bloggers who derserve these great awards, and I hate making people feel like they don't deserve.  So, I'm not going to name names.  If I follow your blog and you are reading this, feel free to grab the award, because there is a good reason why I follow you!

Thanks again Deb for giving me the award!
