Review: The Darkest Whisper

The Darkest Whisper is the fourth (4th) book in Gena Showalter's Lords of the Underworld series.

1st book- The Darkest Night
2nd book- The Darkest Kiss
3rd book- The Darkest Pleasure

The books do not need to be read in order to understand the story line.

Each book in this series revolves around one of Gena's Lords.  The guys used to be guards to the Greek gods, but after they killed Pandora in a fit of anger, and unleashed the demons in Pandora's box, the gods punished them.  How, you ask?  Each man was to be forced to house one of the demons unleashed in their body, for Pandora's box was no longer anywhere to be found.  (They were also thrown from the heavens to live among the mortal humans.)
Where the demon entered the body is a tattoo, and everyone holding a demon was somehow effected.  Example:  The keeper of Death has to escort the souls of the dead to wither heaven or hell; the keeper of Disease can't touch anyone without a plague breaking out; etc, etc.
The Darkest Whisper follows Sabin.  He is the keeper of Doubt.  His demon is like an evil councious to him, in the back of his mind, always throwing doubtful thoughts at him, and other people.  Sabin himself doesn't spread doubt, but his demon sneaks into other's heads, knowing their weaknesses and what they are scared of.  Doubt "talks" to them in their minds, filling them with, well, doubt.
Sabin's previous lovers had developed very low self-esteam because of his demon, forcing Sabin to let them go to prevent further destruction.  His last lover even killed herself over Doubt, so naturally Sabin doesn't put himself out there anoymore, not wanting any more innocent to die.
Then he meets Gwen.  Sweet, timid little Gewn.  Of course Sabin is drawn to her, she's a beautiful woman.  But, determined he can't have a relationship with her, tries to keep his distance.  Will it work?
Gwen is a Harpy, and the great-grand-daughter of Lucifer.  Her race is known to be extreamly vicious, which is probably why Timid Gwen's mother disowned her.  Trapped by the hunters that want to kill the Lords, Gwen is a mess.  Good thing Sabin and his posse saved her.

Okay, so I really don't want to give too much away, but Gena, you out did yourself, it was amazing!
